Saint Patrick’s Day: An International Celebration
Every year in March many people gather to celebrate the arrival of Christianity to Ireland. Catholics, Lutherans, Anglicans and other Christian religions commemorate this in various ways.
Religious services are common, but they are not the only characteristic. People wear green clothes, especially T-shirts and hats. However, the most popular symbol of Saint Patrick’s Day is the shamrock.
In the United States, this holiday is very popular amongst people of Irish descent. In many American cities, you can see a lot of locals wearing green and drinking beer in Irish-styled pubs.
